The Festival of Colours 2012

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had my fill of these cold, dark Winter days – and The Festival of Colours 2012 sounds like the perfect antidote!

With a mixture of South Asian food, music, dance and, most of all, colour, The Festival of Colours celebrates the arrival of Spring in spectacular fashion. Also known as ‘Holi’, the event is one of India’s most important festivals – and the most energetic.

Headlining the event are the semi-finalists of SKY 1′s ‘Got to Dance’, the ‘Bhangra Heads’. They’ll be joined by a host of fresh local ethnic talent and an Asian DJ.

The bit that we’re looking forward to most, apart from all of that delicious asian food, is the two hour long colour powder party – you might remember the mayhem in series 1 of An Idiot Abroad – where you get to throw brightly coloured powder over other festival-goers.

All in all it sounds like a great way to banish those Winter blues!

The Festival of Colours 2012:

  • When: Sunday 11 March
  • Where: The Nugent Hall, Kings Hall, Belfast
  • Time: 1pm – 6pm
  • How much: £2 – or £1 for children under 12 or Senior Citizens – and the bags of coloured powder cost £1 each
