About Our Food Blog
Posted: 22 October '08 by Niall
Chilli & Chocolate is a blog written by Kelly and Niall, a couple of dedicated food-lovers in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It’s a vehicle for sharing our passion for all things food-related: recipes, restaurant and wine reviews, cookbook recommendations, food experiences, ideas, and inspirations.
We want it to be more than a food blog, and certainly more than just a Belfast food blog – anything and everything will end up here.. As long as it tastes good!
We started the blog in November of 2008 as a result of a sudden realisation – our lives revolved around food! What are we cooking for dinner, what restaurant can we next visit, can you recommend a good bottle of wine, do you know a good recipe for XYZ, and so on. It also allows us to record some of the better experiences of our lives for posterity – fantastic dishes tasted, sumptuous wines guzzled, and good local food producers encountered.
About Ciara
When Kelly & Niall first told me that they were setting up this website I was really excited for them.. and I got even more excited when they asked me to post some of my own recipes!
As a wife, mummy and (an almost) full-time worker Ifind trying to decide what to cook for my family each day a bit of a chore, so I’m constantly trying to find different recipes or come up with some myself. I do have a great resource at hand – having 7 sisters there’s lots of discussion and sharing of favourite family recipes which I’ll be delighted to pass on to you.
I’m originally from Belfast, but now living in Dublin – so some of my posts will be about my experiences in the city.
But why Chilli & Chocolate?
Quite simply, chilli and chocolate covers the whole spectrum of the dining experience – from the canapes to the dessert course, from savoury to sweet!
Another reason is a purely personal one – the title brings back very fond memories of a truly superb slice of dark chocolate and cake, a thin line of fiery chilli between the moist layers, and a great merlot, savoured on a warm July evening at Circular Quay in Sydney..
We hope you’ll enjoy it..
